This Privacy Policy explains how Craft Haus ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use First Pass — our macOS application, website, and related cloud services. By using First Pass, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account, we collect your email address. We use a passwordless "magic link" for sign-in, so we do not store a password for you. We associate your account with your plan, activation code, and credit balance.
Sign in with Google or Apple
If you choose to sign in with Google or with Apple, we receive your email address and, where the provider shares them, your name and profile picture. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we receive the private relay address Apple creates instead of your real email. We use this information only to create your account, sign you in, and match your account to your plan. We do not request access to your contacts, files, calendar, or any other data in your Google or Apple account, and we never sell this information or use it for advertising. Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to theGoogle API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can remove First Pass's access at any time from your Google or Apple account settings.
Device and activation information
When you activate First Pass on a Mac, we store a device identifier derived from your hardware and a device name, so we can enforce your plan's seat limit and let you manage and deactivate your devices.
Content you submit
When you use a Cloud Feature, you upload image frames or other media for processing ("Your Content"). We process Your Content to generate the result you request.
In Magic Wand, the photo you pick is uploaded and read as soon as you pick it, before you press Generate, so the result is ready sooner. Nothing is charged until you press Generate. If you don't go on, the photo and the files made from it are deleted, normally within the hour and always within 3 days; a short text description of the scene and a record of the unfinished job are kept with your activity records.
During the beta, members of the First Pass team may view the frames you submit (including a photo you picked in Magic Wand but did not generate from) and the results we make from them, only to check quality and fix problems. They are not shared outside the team.
Usage and billing information
We record credit usage (how many credits a job consumed) and subscription status. Payment information is collected and processed by Paddle, not by us (see "Payments" below).
Activity and diagnostics
When the First Pass app or website contacts our servers, we record what your account did and when: for example, that a job started, its settings, its progress and any error, a sort, a sign-in, or when the app last reached us. During the beta, the app may also tell us which feature is open, what it is doing (for example, sorting) and whether it is in front, and report errors it runs into, so we can see problems as they happen. We do not record your screen, and we do not collect IP addresses for this.
Support conversations
If you message us from the app, we keep what you write, any pictures you choose to attach, and a short note of what the app was doing when you asked: its version, your macOS version, the kind of chip in your Mac, which feature was open, a few of the app's settings (such as notifications and sounds), which tours you've watched, and the status of your recent jobs and sorts. We add your plan, credits and recent credit history, and your Macs and seats, from our own records. It never includes file or folder names, a recording of your screen, or photos you didn't attach yourself. Pictures you attach are converted to JPEG and their location and camera details removed before they leave your Mac.
2. How we use information
- To provide, operate, and maintain First Pass and its features;
- To authenticate you, manage your account, plan, seats, and credits;
- To process Your Content and deliver the results you request;
- To communicate with you about your account, purchases, and service updates;
- To answer your support messages and fix the problems they show;
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and technical issues;
- During the beta, to see how testers use First Pass so we can fix problems faster;
- If you leave Help improve Magic Wand on, to improve Magic Wand's results and its automatic checks (section 6);
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Payments
Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record. When you buy a subscription or credits, Paddle collects and processes your payment details and billing information underPaddle's privacy policy. We receive transaction and subscription details from Paddle (such as your email, plan, and status) but we do not receive or store your full payment card number.
4. Cloud AI processing and third parties
Cloud Features send Your Content to third-party AI model providers that perform the generation, and check the result, on our behalf. We share only what is necessary to produce your result and check it, and, whileHelp improve Magic Wand is on, to run the checks in section 6. These providers process the data under their own terms and privacy practices. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train any other company's AI model. We use it to improve First Pass's own models and checks only in two optional ways, each with its own switch in the app: sorting labels (section 5) and the Magic Wand results you rate (section 6).
We also rely on the following categories of service providers:
- Cloud infrastructure and database hosting (for accounts, credits, storage, and running First Pass's own models);
- Payment processing and tax (Paddle);
- Transactional email delivery (for magic-link sign-in, account emails, and the email that tells our team about a new support message, which shows its first line);
- Push notification delivery, so our team hears about new support messages (these push notifications don't include what you wrote);
- AI model providers (for Cloud Features, including checking their results);
- Advertising measurement on our public website pages (Meta; see section 8).
5. Improving sorting
RoomSort sorts on your Mac first. A slider in the app sets how much of a shoot, if any, may be checked by a cloud vision model; at its leftmost setting nothing leaves your Mac. Whatever the setting, the source footage never leaves your Mac — only small still frames from the clips you allow.
Separately, RoomSort has a switch in its Preferences calledHelp improve sorting. During the beta it is on by default; you can turn it off at any time. In the regular release it stays off unless you turn it on. When it is on and you move, confirm or fix a clip, or export a sorted shoot, First Pass sends us:
- the room you chose and the room the app guessed, plus any extra rooms and time-of-day fixes;
- two lists of numbers that First Pass's on-device vision computed from one frame of the clip. They describe the frame as numbers; they are not a picture;
- the app's confidence, the sorting setting used, and the app version;
- during the beta only: one reduced-resolution preview still of the clip (about 320 pixels on its long side), so a person at First Pass can check the label. A separate, off-by-default Sharper review stillssetting can send one frame up to 1024 pixels on its long side for clips you actively correct or confirm; passive export labels keep the small preview. Previews are stored privately, seen only by that reviewer, and deleted as soon as the label has been reviewed. The regular release never sends one.
We do not receive the clip's file name or the footage itself. Instead of a file name we receive a one-way hash so a second label for the same clip replaces the first.
What it is used for. Every label is reviewed by a person before it is used. Approved labels may be used in separate training and evaluation runs for First Pass's own room-recognition model. Approving a label does not immediately change the model in an installed app; an updated model must pass evaluation and be released. Labels are never shared with, sold to, or used to train any third-party AI model, and they are not used for advertising.
You can turn the switch off at any time in Preferences; nothing further is sent. To have contributions already sent deleted, email[email protected] from the address on your account.
6. Improving Magic Wand
When you review a Magic Wand result yourself, you rate it with stars and can add reasons and a note. You can rate the finished video too. Your ratings (stars, reasons, note and decision), with the tool and settings you used, are always saved with the job, because they steer the next try and help us with support and refunds. So is how you decided, for example how long the frame was on screen.
Magic Wand also has a switch called Help improve Magic Wand.It is on by default; you can turn it off at any time in the app. While it is on, for each frame or video you rate, we also keep, with your rating:
- the frame you rated, the photo it was made from, and the End photo or End frame if the job had one (we may keep a smaller copy);
- the video, if you rated a video;
- what Magic Wand's own automatic check made of the frame, including the change map and close-ups it looked at.
What it is used for. To make Magic Wand's results better, and to teach its automatic checks to judge a frame the way people do. We compare your rating with the automatic check and use the differences to tune First Pass's own checks, instructions and settings, and to train First Pass's own AI models. Models we train with this material run only on First Pass's own cloud systems. They may be built on openly published models, but training them never sends your material to the company that published them. Before a rating or a note is used to train or tune anything, a person at First Pass checks it and approves it. To run and test these checks, kept pictures may be sent to the same AI model providers that already make and check your edits (section 4); we do not add other companies for this.
Your notes. If you add a note to a rating, a person at First Pass reads it. While Help improve Magic Wand is on, we may use your note, as you wrote it or as edited by our team to remove personal details, as written guidance for Magic Wand's automatic checks and for the instructions it gives its AI models. That guidance applies to everyone's edits. Your pictures are never shown to other users or placed in their edits.
Who sees it. Only the First Pass team, plus the AI model providers above when they run a check. Kept pictures are stored privately. They are never sold, never made public, never shown to other users or used in their edits, and not used for advertising.
How long. Kept pictures are deleted after 2 years (730 days), or sooner if you ask. Your ratings stay with your account records (section 7). Models and checks trained with kept pictures keep what they learned after the pictures are deleted; they don't store the pictures. If you ask us to delete your contributions, we leave them out of every version we train after that, within 30 days.
Turning it off. From then on, we stop keeping pictures for this, and your new ratings are not used to train or tune Magic Wand. A rating of 3 stars or lower, or one with a note, still keeps a copy so we can look into what went wrong (section 7), but that copy is not used to train or tune Magic Wand. To have what we already kept deleted, email[email protected] from the address on your account.
7. Data retention
- Uploaded source frames and working files (the frames and clips made along the way) are used to produce your requested result and are automatically deleted from our processing storage within 3 days after the job completes, apart from the copies described below.
- The original photo of a Magic Wand edit is kept for 7 days after the job, so the result can be compared with it or made again, and is then deleted, apart from the copies described below.
- Generated results are kept in our storage for up to 7 days so the app can download them, and are then deleted, apart from the copies described below. The copy the app saves on your Mac stays with you.
- Copies kept for up to 2 years (730 days) in three cases. WhileHelp improve Magic Wand is on, we keep a copy of every Magic Wand frame or video you rate and of the photos it was made from, to improve Magic Wand (section 6). Whether that switch is on or off, if you rate a result 3 stars or lower, or add a note to a rating, we keep a copy of the rated frame or video and of your original photo, so we can look into what went wrong. If you choose to add a link to the original photo on a result's disclosure label, we keep that original so the link keeps working. All are then deleted. To have them deleted sooner, contact us (section 11).
- Account, activation, and billing records are retained for as long as your account is active and as needed to meet legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention obligations.
- Activity and diagnostic records, and your Magic Wand ratings, are kept with your account records and deleted with them.
- Support conversations, including the short note of what the app was doing and the status of your jobs, sorts and credits at the time, are kept for 12 months after the last message and then deleted. Pictures you attach to a support message are deleted after 90 days. To get a copy of your support conversations, or to have them deleted sooner, contact us (section 11).
- Sorting contributions (section 5) are retained while they are useful for tuning, and are deleted on request.
8. Cookies and local storage
Our website uses your browser's local storage to keep you signed in between visits (your choice via "Keep me signed in") and to remember basic preferences.
Our public pages, such as the home page and the beta page, use the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms that tells us which of our ads bring people to the site and helps us show our ads to people who may be interested. When you visit those pages, Meta may receive information such as the page address, your browser and device details and your IP address, and may set or read a cookie to recognise your browser. Meta handles this under its own privacy policy. We never load the Meta Pixel on account pages or sign-in links, and we never send Meta your email address, your files or what you do in the app.
You can limit this by blocking third-party cookies or turning on tracking protection in your browser, or by changing your ad preferences in your Meta account. Paddle may set cookies needed to complete checkout.
9. How we share information

To make a request, contact us at[email protected]. We will respond as required by applicable law. For payment-related data held by Paddle, you may also contact Paddle directly.
12. International transfers
We and our service providers may process your information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
13. Children
First Pass is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
